CC2640R2F: Antenna design issue

Hello All,

I am working first time on CC2640R2F antenna design, I am using AN043 *2 2.4 GHz PCB antenna with johanson impedance-matched balloon filter 2450BM14G0011.

i want to know that this combination works efficiently or should i use whole matching circuit components instead of Johansan balloon filter.

Is it any antenna design tool available?

is it any debug Method or tool available for antenna performance?

Hi,

Yes, this combination will work, but make sure to add some components between the IPC and the antenna so that you can tune the antenna after you have assembled your product.

No, not other than expensive tools such as ADS, Ansys etc.

Is it mandatory require 50 Ohm impedance matching line between AN043 *2 2.4 GHz PCB antenna and johanson impedance-matched balloon filter 2450BM14G0011.

If there is no 50ohm impedance line will it effect on performance?

Yes, a 50 Ohm transmission line should be used, if not the performance will be degraded.

refer the figure, the PCB manufacturer calculated the 50ohm impedance. the width of track is too large and it overlaps with antenna feed point. which effects in antenna dimensions.

This will work? or any other way to avoid this problem?

Since you have so short distance between the balun and the antenna a 50 ohm transmission line is not needed, you can just use standard trace width.
