LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2: RSSI strength for each channel

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652R, BLE-STACK

Hi Champs,

Our customer would like to know the RSSI strength for each channel simultaneously to find out the lower power channel in the area.

Do we have a such feature available with LAUCHXL-CC2640R2?
If not, i would like to know any alternatives.

Best regards,
Hitoshi

  • Hi Hitoshi,

I don't think there exists a feature like this for BLE. What is the use-case?

You could try implementing this with the RF driver (i.e. make a proprietary rf application), but I don't think we have a seamless way of integrating a proprietary rf example and a BLE example on the CC2640R2. (On CC2652R you could use DMM to integrate.)
  • I can't really offer you an alternative since this is a pretty fundamental design aspect of BLE. 40 data channels are used and the connection jumps between channels for each connection event. If a packet is lost, retransmission is automatically handled by the BLE-Stack.
  • Hi Marie H,
Thank you very much for your kind info.
I just wanted to know if it is easily implemented or not.
    Please close this inquiry.
Thank you again and best regards,
    Hitoshi
