Suggest BLE IC

Hello

I am looking for a BLE v4.2 solution from TI which can communicate via UART, SPI with a MCU . What I noticed is BLE is coming with PWM, ADC channels. I don't need that, these functions are available in controller being used. I need a solution considering quality, reliability and price.

What about CC2540/41?

These so many features are not redundant if I need to implement only ble feature like GPIOs, ADCs, Timers, RAM , Flash. It is kind of mini MCU.

Note: I am new to this technology.

CC2640R2F is more powerful and power saving than CC254x. CC2640R2 is TI BLE main stream chip so I still suggest using it. By the way, you can use free IDE CCS to develop BLE application for CC2640R2F but if you use CC254X, you might need IAR EW8051.

What about less features ? any product that serves only BLE feature and not these peripherals, memory on chip and ADCs.

Hi Tanvi,
No less features than provided by CC2541 / CC2640R2. As YK points out, the CC2541 requires IAR license.

Hello Joakim

My doubt is very basic one that do all ble modules come with these extensive features like peripherals for ADC, PWM and timers. It seems like more of a MCU. Isn't any solution available specifically for Bluetooth implementation without all these peripherals. Leave CC2541 or CC2640R2. Any other solution with dedicated feature , cost will be less in that case.

CC2640R2 has different packages, 7x7, 5x5, and 4x4. If you don’t need many IOS, you can select 5x5 or 4x4 chip which are more cost effective.

TI does not offer any low-cost versions of these devices.
