LAUNCHXL-CC2650: Problem at to open putty serial terimal

Hello all,

Right now i am working with CC2650 launchpad. And i am new with Ti-rtos and ble. So for the first time run the example code simple peripheral in ccs9 and checked communication between mobile app(BLE SCANNER), this all thing works fine.

But i want to see all the things in putty. But i got error like : unable to open COM.. or sometimes it open but display nothing.

I have checked in device manager , here is screen shot, as COM30 is for uart.

And open putty settings for serial and add it..but unable to open.

Please Help to resolve this problem.

Hi Reena,
What settings do you use in Putty? Are you sure the SDK version you are using has UART output enabled in the software project?

Hello sir,
For putty setting, i have made setting as describe in dev.ti.com/.../ble_scan_adv_basic.html
and I am using ble_sdk_2_02_02_25 for example code.

Hi Reena,

The SimpleLink Acadmey you linked is intended for CC2640R2. The software can be different. SimpleLink Academy for CC2650 can be found here: software-dl.ti.com/.../overview.html

Can you check your predefined symbols? Make sure Display_DISABLE_ALL and BOARD_DISPLAY_EXCLUDE_UART is not defined.

BTW, if you're starting development of a new project I would recommend you start development on the CC2640R2F device instead.

Hello sir,

I know link is intended for CC2640R2, but software is same. And i have not seen any predefined symbols which you have mentioned in code.
And i want to ask you why you are preferring me CC2640R2F instead of CC2650 launchpad...is there any reason ?
Please help me to solve Putty error..
Prefer me way for CC2640R2 maybe it would works for me also...
Give me all regarding step for PUTTY.

Hi Reena,

CC2640R2 and CC2650 do not use the same software. CC2650 uses the BLE-Stack 2.2.2, last update March 2018 (link: www.ti.com/.../ble-stack).

CC2640R2 uses the SimpleLink CC2640R2 SDK (link: www.ti.com/.../SIMPLELINK-CC2640R2-SDK), last update April 2019.

CC2640R2 is the second rom spin of the device, meaning that in most cases you will have more available flash f you use CC2640R2. Also, certain software components such as the bluetooth 5 Stack is only supported by CC2640R2.

(You can find the predefined symbols if you go to Project -> Properties -> Build -> ARM Compiler -> Advanced Options -> Predefined symbols.)
