CC2652R: Can sensor controller provide extra high performance PWM outputs?

Hi team,

My customer is elevating CC2652R and he has a question about sensor controller. need your help!

He uses 3 of 16-bit timer to do other functions but he needs total 8 16-bit PWM outputs. That means there should be other 3 PWM outputs.

PWM cycle: 9ms~18ms;

High voltage duration: 500us~2500us;

error requirement: ±0.5us.

By the way, customer already tried to use IO as the PWM outputs, but it cannot meet the error requirements.

Here, we want to know can sensor controller do this job? To provide 3 high performance PWM outputs.

Hi Yuan,
I don't think SC has as many as 8 timer outputs. I will check to confirm.

Hi Yuan,

In the sensor controller found inside CC2652R there is a 16-bit timer resource called "Timer 2", this comes with up to 4 capture/compare channels which can be used to generate PWM signals. It can operate at 24 MHz, 2 MHz or 32 kHz so I would expect you to be able to use this to generate the three remaining PWM signals.

Thank you so much! and I also want to know the performance about taking "timer2" as PWM outputs. can it match "±0.5us" error tolerance? and by the way, do we have examples to do this job?

Hi Yuanm

I would expect you to be within the error margin if running at 24 MHz. Yes, there is both a "LED PWM" example in Sensor Controller Studio as well as example code in the help section for the module.
