CC2564: Output sample rate when working as Assisted A2DP sink

Part Number: CC2564

Hello

I am currently designing a system where several digital audio sources will be mixed together in a codec/DSP.

To avoid the need for sample rate conversion we want to keep all digital audio streams at even multiples of 8 kHz (that is 8, 16 or 48 kHz)

When CC2564 works as an assisted A2DP sink, can we configure it in such a way that the PCM always uses 48 kHz, or must our system be prepared to handle 44.1 kHz sample rate as well?

  • Hello Joakim,

According to the A2DP profile specification, A2DP sink devices are required to support both 44.1kHz and 48kHz sample rates. However, the source devices are only required to support one of the two. Since the sample rate is imposed by the source, the sample rate of the audio stream on the sink side can be 44.1kHz or 48kHz depending on the source.

So, when CC2564 works as an assisted A2DP sink, it can have 44.1kHz or 48kHz stream depending on the remote source. It is not feasible to limit the sink device to one of the two sample rates.

    Best regards,
