LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2: XDS110 USB driver 1.9.0.0. RELEASE NOTES ?

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2

Hi,

Where are the release notes for XDS110 USB driver 1.9.0.0?

We have updated from 1.7.0.0 and one of our automated current measurement test is now failing only with this new driver, reverting to 1.7.0.0 fixes it.

I suspect one of the JTAG or UART GPIO is left in a different state in some conditions. In the meanwhile I will find out by measurement but knowing the driver change would be helpful for deciding on the fix.

Thanks.
Jerome

  • Jerome,

Please see this related post: e2e.ti.com/.../2919734

    Hope this helps,
    Seong
  • Hi Seong,
This does not use CCS but srfprog+xds110reset only. But the only difference from pass to fail is switching the USB driver as written above. Thx.
  • Hey Jerome,

This driver was updated in October and is a part of a bigger package called Emupack. The release notes are shown here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS_Emulation_Software_Package

There is a chance the SmartRF version you're using and the new driver are incompatible. Which version of SmartRF are you using?

The new driver could also have a different behavior or a bug that requires the script to completely exit the SmartRF program. This was an issue we saw with CCS in the past.

    BR,

    Seong

  • Hi Seong,

Thank you for sharing this link.

In this case we do not use SmartRF, we issue commands directly to srfprog.exe and xds110reset.exe.
We have tried the versions of srfprog included in FlashProg2 v1.7.5 and 1.8.0, regardless, only switching the USB driver from 1.7.0.0 to 1.9.0.0 is failing the test.

Our xds110reset.exe is now version 8.1.0.00005 which is missing in the corresponding release notes on that page, seems it might also be included in the package notes, I can see the following related to xds110reset.exe:

"Calling xds110reset in a loop with MSP432E4 eventualy causes a flash erase (DBGTRC-4241)"

Not sure how this got fixed and if it's the cause.

The USB driver 1.9.0.0 would be helpful for us as we have confirmed it solves one crash we always have with USB driver 1.7.0.0, as described here:

    e2e.ti.com/.../714681

Despite that, we have decided to stay on 1.7.0.0 as we have limited resource for this now.

    Best regards,

    Jerome
