CC2564MODA: Questions for A2DP

Hi,

My customer is planning to use A2DP with CC2564MODA.
They have below questions. Please answer them.

Q1) Are there any functional difference between Bluetooth Master and Slave?
I think device search is performed only by Master. Advertisement is only Slave side.
What else? For example, either can be sink or source?

Q2) A2DP data includes volume information, correct?
(There is no separated “volume parameter”?)

Q3) If answer to Q2 is Yes, volume control is done by source device, right?

Q4) Is it possible to determine below status from A2DP data?
4-1 : play back on
4-2 : play pause
4-3 : volume zero
4-4 : mute

Q5) If answer to Q4 is No, does AVRCP profile support them?

Hi,

The one initiating the connection is typically the master. But, devices may support (or configured) 'mode_switch' which allows the master/slave roles to be swapped..
Volume control is through AVRCP profile.. Please, check the BT specs:

Which Host processor is being considered?

Hi Hari,

Does our AD2P demo also support "mode_switch" ?
Customer wants to know if there is restriction in master/slave role and src/sink roles.
(ex. src needs to be master, etc.)

Hari,

Let me add more background of customer’s question Q4/Q5.

Customer wants to disconnect BT connection between source(smartphone, etc. ) and sink(CC2564MODA) if no music is played for a certain amount of time.
They wonder it is difficult to distinguish among “no play”, “volume zero” and “muted”.

Is it possible to detect such condition in TI A2DP demo?

For newer designs the recommendation is to use MSP432. I guess, they can check the a2dp ACL packets on the host to see if the music has stopped.. mode switch is as such supported.. But, again recommendation is to use MSP432..
