CC2564MODA: Questions about layout, etc.

Hi

My customer is planning to use CC2564MODA.

Q1) According to data sheet page#32, 4 layer PCB stack-up is recommended.
Customer prefers to use 2 layer.
What kinds of problems are expected if customer uses 2 layer instead of 4 layer?

Q2) On page#35, data sheet says;
“In addition, consider the proximity of the antenna to the enclosure and consider the enclosure material.”
Does customer need to consider cable harnesses position around the antenna?
There are cable harnesses(power, signal) inside customer product.
If so, how these cables need to be far from the antenna?

Hi Koichiro,

A 2-layer stack-up should be fine, the 4-layer recommendation here is mainly to make routing easier.

Yes, really anything around the antenna (enclosures, cables, etc.) should be taken into consideration. I can't tell you an exact clearance because this isn't something we have characterization data on, so this may just be a matter of testing.
