CC2564MODA: BLE and classic simultaneous connection

Hi,

I have a customer who is interested in below scenarios.
Is this feasible with MSP430 + CC2564MODA?
(I knew MSP432 + CC2564C is recommended, but customer needs certified module)

Usecases: Suppose there are three devices (CC2564MODA, device-A and device-B).
a) CC2564MODA is A2DP sink and device-A is src. At the same time CC2564MODA and device-B is connected with GATT(BLE).
b) CC2564MODA is A2DP sink and device-A is src. At the same time CC2564MODA is connected to device-B with A2DP. Software switches which audio src is played.

Simultaneous connection both classic and BLE is possible?
Is MSP430 sufficient to manage both stack?

b) CC2564MODA is A2DP sink and device-A is src. At the same time CC2564MODA and device-A is connected with GATT(BLE).

Hi Koichiro-san,

We only support A3DP (assisted A2DP) through CC2564MODA + MSP430 and CC2564C +MSP432 host stack.

For the above examples below is the options/limitations

Looks like the two cases refer to A2DP +BLE with single device (case b) or 2 devices (case a)

In both cases the simultaneous A3DP (currently supported with TI MCU) + BLE cannot be supported at the same time.

For the exact customer needs they have to work with 3rd party solution (Ex: Cloud2Gnd) to get the custom stack release.

Thanks for answer. I understood these scenarios are not supported CC2564MODA+MSP430 nor CC2564C+MSP432.

I found CC2564MODA+Tiva(TM4C129x) supports A2DP(non assisted).
So these scenarios are supported if customer uses Tiva?
Please confirm.

The Tiva solution is not recommended as the solution is not maintained in a while.

Could you explain a bit more why Tiva is not recommended?

Based on the discussion with customer, Tiva is the only TI solution meeting customer’s requirements.
We will lose the socket if Tiva cannot be used.
I agree the software for Tiva is old one, but it is the same for MSP430.
Why only Tiva is not recommended ?
What is expected trouble(s) using Tiva solution?

Koichiro-san,

Both MSP430 and Tiva stack releases have not been maintained in several years. Thus, both of those releases are not recommended for new designs.

If using the Tiva as the host is a must, please see if using the latest CC2564CSTBTBLESW an option. This release contains stack binaries compiled for ARM cortex M3, M4 and M7 microcontrollers. It may require additional porting to fit the TIVA HAL on this release.

If the customer needs help with this porting effort, we have several 3rd party resources who can assist.

Hi Vihang,

CC2564CSTBTBLESW is software for CC2564C.
Does this support CC2564B as well?

Customer needs modules, so CC2564MODA is candidate.

Koichiro-san,

The CC2564CSTBTBLESW supports CC2564C and, with changes in compile-time definitions, CC256xB as well. So there is no issue using it with CC2564MODA.
