RTOS/CC2640R2F: Disable LL_CONNECTION_UPDATE_REQ in simple_central

Hi everyone!

After the simple_central is connected to the smartphone (android) , the simple_central will automatically initiate LL_CONNECTION_UPDATE_REQ.

How can I cancel this function? I can't find the settings in simple_central s program.

Hi Gary,

The simple central should not issue a connection parameter update unless it's a request from the android phone. What is occurring prior to that packet?

This is what occurring before LL_CONNECTION_UPDATE_REQ：

It looks that there is no request from android phone.

If so, is it P.nbr.138? But the 0x0F is 0x0F − LL_CONNECTION_PARAM_REQ.

Hi Gary,

Either the sniffer is missing out on some information or you must have modified the SW. Do you get the same result everytime you sniff the communication?

Hey,

After looking closer at the sniffer it's clear that it's not able to parse all "control" packets. The packet number 137 has 24 bytes of data only presented in the raw mode (not GUI). The sniffer firmware might not be up to date if these are new types of LL packets.

How to modify the SW?

Modifi the Mnemonic.plt and FieldDef.plt in the D:\***\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Packet Sniffer\bin\general\plugin\ble ?

Is there have new sniffer firmware for CC2540 USB Dongle ?

I am using last version of sniffer_fw_cc2540_usb.hex in Packet Sniffer 2.18.1.

Hi Gary,

The TI sniffer isn`t enabled for later versions of the BLE protocol, and modifying it is not easy. instead, you will have to manually parse the packets as needed. You will see the RAW packet in the text box when you mark a row. Use the core specification to parse.

This being said, i'm pretty sure you will find that the smartphone request connection parameter update,

What is the data of the smartphone requesting connection parameter updates?

I should find a LL_CONNECTION_UPDATE_REQ (0x00) data that direction is S to M instead of M to S?
