CC2642R: External Regulator Mode

Part Number: CC2642R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62740

I'm working with a customer that is trying to figure out in External Regulator mode (using the TPS62740) what to do with the DCDC_SW pin.  the CC26x0 datasheet and Hardware Configuration Guide state that it should be connected to ground.  However, the CC26x2 datasheet says that this pin should be left floating if unused.

Also, in researching this, I found a note that implies that External Regulator Mode is unsupported on the CC26x2.  This is somewhat troubling considering that we recommended it to this customer for use on this device.  They already have custom CC2642 boards in hand that are fully working with External Regulator Mode.  In their prototype hardware, they tie DCDC_SW to ground.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Stuart

  • Hi Stuart,

External regulator mode is not supported on CC26x2R as stated in the document you refer to. This is also clear from the CC26x2R data sheets.

We have this feature on the backlog, and I will add your request to the ticket for it. It would be good if you could send me some more details on the customer and application in an email.

    Regards,
    Fredrik
