Hello,

I have been working with CC2650 launchpad so that i can eventually work on CC2650MODA with minimal effort.

I wanted to just upload a Simple peripheral program onto CC2650MODA. (I have taken the Board files into consideration but that does not issue me in any way)

So I connected the pins 3.3V, GND, RESET, TMS, TCK. Just to check whether the CC2650MODA is detected by using the smartrf flash programmer 2.

Connecting the jumpers only to above 5 pins back onto the launchpad. The CC2650 IC on the launchpad gets detected instantly. Similarly for Booster Pack CC2650 plug-in module, as soon as do the connections it gets detected.

To my loss, the standalone CC2650MODA didn't get detected. Thinking my CC2650MODA standalone module might not be working, i tested on another. But received the same result.

NOTE: I have directly soldered wires onto the CC2650MODA standalone module for uploading the program as shown in the figure.

I have the image of all the connections that i have done.

I have also designed the PCB file, but the same issue existed. So if this works, I'll need help with that too.

Try to remove resister between 3V3 and reset pins on your CC2650MODA.

Hi Mohammad,

The reset line is not soldered to the right pad on the module. The pull-up is still required.

Pressed TI Thinks resolved on wrong post by accident.

But I suspect that reset has something to do with the issue you are seeing, recheck that you have soldered the red "reset" wire to the correct pin on the module, for me it looks like it's connected to a DIO.

Yes, it needs a reset but you have to connect it to the correct pin.

So I checked, you were right that the reset is connected to DIO8 pin.

I reconnected it to the DIO13 pin of the standalone MODA. Didn't remove the resistor.

When i tired to connect using CC2650 launchpad again, it still didn't get discovered.

You still have the Vsense jumper mounted on the LaunchPad, right?

I would recommend you try another CC2650 module then. Perhaps then one you have now is broken (by ESD for example).

Can you brief me more on this CC2650MODA ESD?

It worked for new MODA. But i need to know the reason.

Is the desk you work on ESD protected? Do you use ESD protective gear at all times (ESD shoes, wrist ESD strap etc)? If not it's easy to subject the module to a ESD event.

Do you mean guide you to proper ESD handling? This is a widely covered area and you should be able to find something online.
