Hello ,

Is there a way to advertise for a certain duration (fixed interval) , then pause and continue advertising.

For example: I transmit advertisements at 1 second interval for a time period of 20 seconds. Start a clock timer and after 40 seconds transmit advertisements at 1 second interval for the next 20 seconds.

In this manner I can save power where in 1 minute I advertising only for 20 seconds and remain dormant for 40 seconds. It also help in the case of RSSI testing for range.

Kindly help me out.

Sanjay,

You can do this, but you have to use timers and set the advertising parameters yourself in the application.

Set advertising parameters to 1 second interval, with a timer of 20 seconds. At the expiration of the timer, disable advertisements, change the advertising interval to something else and re-enable advertisements, etc. All doable using clocks and the current APIs given today for setting advertisement intervals/enabling and disabling advertisements.

Is there a sample example or any suggestions on functions I can sue to Modify the simple broadcaster or simple peripheral example in order to do the same?

I am new to programming and using TI-Launchpads. Kindly excuse my amateur questions.

Hello Evan,

Thank you for sharing the links. I figured out that I need to include the GapAdv_enable & GapAdv_disable function in the SimplePeripheral_performPeriodicTask() section .

I would really appreciate if you could write out the instructions to implement [advertisements at 1 second interval for a time period of 20 seconds. Start a clock timer and after 40 seconds , start transmit advertisements at 1 second interval for the next 20 seconds]

I'm finding it difficult to write the instructions for the same.

I'm using the TI - CC2642R1 Launchpad and the SDK is SimpleLink CC13x2 CC26x2 SDK - V3.10.01.11 .

The examples codes are simple peripheral and simple broadcaster.
