Difficulty in establishing an NDA

I want to assess a particular TI device for design in to a new product. For this device "Full data sheet and other design resources are available under NDA. Request Now >" I filled and submitted the linked form, noting that it may take 2 days or more for TI to respond. I received no immediate acknowledgement and more than 10 days has passed without response. What do I do now?

On trying to post this I'm told that not having a part number will delay the response. I don't want to disclose an interest in this part on an open forum. Catch 22?

  • Hello Hugh,

Please contract our Customer Support Center and they can assist or help expedite. Go to http://www.ti.com/guidedsupport/call-ti-support/#popularlinks and click the "Contact TI Customer Support Center" button. You can communicate confidentially with them and provide a part number and they will work with the appropriate product group.

  • Hi Jeff

Thanks for your very prompt response - no Catch 22!

Following your suggestion I called the customer support centre. The conversation was difficult due to a very poor line but the agent said an NDA would be difficult, but she raised a case CS0064708 on my behalf. This suggested that a TI sales representative had undertaken to contact me. No-one has.

I have requested further data on a related part, with export control formalities but no mention of NDA. After filling in the on-line form, I got an email back asking me for more details, but not specifying what details. I mentioned the NDA problem in my reply, together with as much extra information as I felt comfortable to disclose. I have not had a reply to this email yet.

Do you have any further suggestions? In tpast employments I've found TI very approachable, but now sadly a bit opaque. Best wishes, Hugh

  • Hi Hugh,

I think you are on the right track working with CSC on these issues. E2E is really for dealing with device/system related technical issues that can be answered by our Eng Applications, Systems and IC design folks. Don't hesitate to be proactive and track the cases you've submitted to CSC  by contacting them and/or replying to emails from them. Here are a few tips.

    • If it is an urgent request, please call at one of the regional numbers listed at www.ti.com/csc
    • Americas number is available 24 hours per day Monday - Friday: 703-344-7012
    • If you are the requestor for a case, you can see all your requests when logged into www.ti.com/csc.
    • When you select an open case, you can provide any updates directly in the portal

I've asked CSC to keep me posted on the progress of your requests and I can help internally if needed.

  • Thanks Jeff!

I don't have an NDA yet but I'm beginning to feel some progress and have been contacted by an appropriate Application Engineer - actually as a result of another route I tried. I will follow your further advice as I go along and I'm happy to close this on E2E.

    Best wishes

    Hugh

  • Hello Hugh,

I closed the loop with CSC and the Marketing Manager of the group that owns the device you are asking about and they tell me that your NDA has been processed and you're all set. Please let me know if that's not the case and you need further assistance.

  • Hi Jeff

Thanks for checking on this, I am almost "all set"! The NDA is in place and I have access to device information, so this issue is resolved.

I was also enabled to order a evaluation kit from the TI store and was pleased to get an email saying it had been shipped from Holland last Thursday  - I paid for premium service and thought there was a fair chance I'd receive it in the UK on Friday. Tracking it today, Monday, the TI Store says "Just Shipped!" (the exclamation mark is especially annoying), but Fedex say the label was printed last Thursday and they haven't received the goods. Another support case.

Perhaps I've been unlucky and/or not gone about things the right way, but it has taken 4 weeks to get device information and ??? to get an EV kit.

Thanks for your interest and support

    Hugh
