Bluetooth Wake-up radio/receiver

Dear TI support Team,

I am looking for an integrated SoC that has the ability to communicate over Bluetooth, and capable to wake up from deep sleep mode upon a Bluetooth signal.

The use-case is smartphone send Bluetooth packet or search for devices, this activates the wake-up radio module that generates an interrupt or wakes up of the main CPU and the Bluetooth module. I can not have the Bluetooth module on listening mode all the time as consuming too much power.

Thank you for your suggestions and help in advance.

  • Hi Gabor,

The typical use case you describe is a device operating as GAP Peripheral and advertising with a high latency. Once the smartphone need to connect, it scans and connects with the device. CC2642 is a good device with Bluetooth low energy support.

  • Dear, J Lindh,

Thank you for your advice,  how ever I more like to look for something that is only on when a bluetooth device tries to connect to it. Advertising data is not an option for me, as the application need communicate only on demand. Oce a day or less frequent. Considering this would you suggest something , that is the reason I mentioned  wake up radio or wake up receivers.

    Kind regards

  • Hi Gabor,

There is no such feature in BLE, unfortunately. Out of curiosity, what is your energy budget?

  • Hi J Lindh,

Let me apologize for the late reply,

My energy budget is very low, near-zero or battery-less with energy harvesting system attached to it. if you do not mind that I found a SOC called Atmosic M2 and M3 they do have features I would need but I hav not found where could I purchase them. Alternatively, I would like to use TI product as I have good experience with them.
