CCS/LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: CC13X2-26X2-SDK_3.30.00.03 - Extremely Inaccurate Angle Results

Hello,

I've been trying out the new SDK for the CC26X2 (version 3.30.00.03) and I'm currently using the rtls_example_with_rtls_util.py application.

I'm getting really large values for the angles (200+ degrees), even though the slave is approximately located at +45 degrees of the antenna.

I'm currently using 1 master (with the BOOSTXL-AOA antenna) and 1 slave.

Any help to fixing this would be appreciated.

Hi Clément,

I've attached the picture of our setup below. This has been the same setup we've been using since 3.20.00.68, which did not give us large, inaccurate values as 3.30.00.03.

We also did not change any of the rtls example code. We just used it as it was.

Hi,

If I understand correctly, you are using only the slave and the master. Can you confirm?

Can you also verify if you have properly moved the capacitor C51 of your LaunchPad?

Yes I am only using 1 slave and 1 master. No passives during this test.

I have also moved the capacitor on the LaunchPad.

Is there any way you could replicate this test and show me the angle values you are getting?

Hi Stefano,

The results I am getting seem to be in accordance with the release note of the SDK v3.30 (http://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/content/simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_3_30_00_03/docs/ble5stack/release_notes_ble5stack_2_01_00_00.html). However, the results can be improved by using only one antennas-array. (Note: in SDK 3.30, this can basically be done by adding the line -DANT_CONFIG_1_ONLY to the file rtls_master_app.opt).

Hi Clément,

Just wanted to get back to this thread. I've tried doing the -DANT_CONFIG_1_ONLY to the file rtls_master_app.opt, but it still recognizes the 2nd antenna array.

Is there something else I'm missing that I need to add to the code?

Hi,

If you are using both master and passive, the -DANT_CONFIG_1_ONLY must be also added on the passive side (I mean, the line must be added to the device performing the AoA measurements). Don't forget to "Rebuild all" (in CCS, you have to right click on your project to access this command).

If this solution does not work (even if it should ;) ), you can have a look to the Simple Link Academy labs.
