BOOSTXL-AOA: Why magnitude of signal varies with different channel

Part Number: BOOSTXL-AOA

Hi,

I observed the magnitude of incoming 31 packets on a single antenna (A1.3) and magnitude of signal is different fro different packets- received from same slave at same antenna in same environmental conditions.

Is magnitude of signal is depending on channel on which packet arrives?

If so then why?

Below is the magnitude plot attached of 31 packets on antenna A1.3:

Thanks

  • Hi,

The magnitude is not the same across the channels for at least those two reasons:

    - the antenna's gain is not the same across the frequencies

    - the environment's attenuation depends on the signal's frequency

    I hope this will help,

    Regards,

  • Hi,

If I and Q values will vary according to frequency on which packet is sent, then how it is possible to obtain constant pair angle between antenna?

Do we need to fix the channel of transmission to obtain the constant pair angle?

Because as different packets will use different channels then the pair angle calculated will be different in case of different packets irrespective of location o slave.

Please suggest  me how to deal with issue.

    Thanks

    Akansha

  • Hi,

In the example provided by TI, some compensation values are used to deal with the differences due to the different channels. Please review our example and have a look to  this.
