CC2650: BL6450CQ Mac Address

Part Number: CC2650

Hi

I'm currently using BL6450CQ chip on board in our IVI project.

I know that a  bluetooth mac address is a unique identifier for a bluetooth device. It is used by devices to connect to each other.

So I want to ask that this Bluetooth chip(BL6450CQ) has been permanently written with a unique mac address when it mass production in the factory, right?

So We don't need to pay and write this mac address anymore. Right?

and it can be read this mac address by HCI command ,that's right?

If my understanding is correct, but our partner teams  told me that this chip needs to write a mac address during IVI  mass production. if do not,

it will not be possible to enable Bluetooth function on the board...

So I was very confused, Could you confirm the exact information again.

     Thank you。

  • Yes, every TI device has an unique BT MAC address efused in it.  You can read this value with an HCI command.  You are free to use this MAC address and not required to change it.  However, the OUI value (MSB 3B of the MAC address) is registered to TI, some customer have their own OUI values and prefer to use an HCI command to over-write the default and use theirs during device boot.

    Hope that helps,

  • We are in the process of updating the BL6450CQ DID and going through the required TCRL tests.  Should have it completed in a couple weeks. The old one expired.
