CC2642R: Secure Key Storage Memory

Hello, I am looking for some information on CC2642’s Secure Key Storage. Based on the TRM section 1.3.4. I see that there is a Secure Key Storage memory. Is this available at an application layer or is it exclusive to stack? We have a customer who has additional security key material that they would like to store in secure key storage. Is this possible and where should I be looking besides the TRM?

Update - per chapter 12, I am wondering if the AES module is only using this key storage? is it possible to write to this section without using the AES ?

Hello DEEP,

Keys are written to the Key Store memory by code executing from the CM4F core. That write can be initiated by the application and/or stack code running on the CM4F. Once the key(s) are written, only the AES module can access the key for crypto operations. The key store memory is reset upon a device reset or if the key store memory is otherwise cleared.

Once keys are written, is it just AES module or SHA2 as well?

Just the AES engine uses the key(s).

SHA-2 is a hashing algorithm/engine, so it is not key based.
