CC2640R2F: New silicon revision

Hello,

Noting your recent updates to the data sheet and errata document for the CC2640R2F covering a new silicon revision (G), can you provide any more details of the changes?

Are packages with the new silicon revision now shipping? Are all packages being updated?

Does use of the new silicon revision require use of a specific minimum version of the SimpleLink SDK?

On a related point, using the guidance in the errata document for identifying the chip hardware revision using chipinfo.c, I currently see HWREV_1_0 returned. Am I right in thinking this is revision F, even though the errata says that HWREV_2_5 should be reported?

Hi John,

The actual changes are reflected in the revision history in the datasheet. Non of these are considered significant compared to the previous revision. Both revisions will be available moving forward and in all packages, except WCSP where only rev F will be available.

There are no SW changes required to use this revision.

What revision number is printed on top of the chip that reports HWREV_1_0?

To confirm, are there no changes to the contents of the microcontroller ROM supporting TI-RTOS, BLE-Stack etc.?

Top of the package reads:

CC2640

R2F

TI 73I

AV7V G4

Hi John,

The ROM content is identical in revision F and G. There are no functional differences between the two revisions.
