Compiler/CC2642R: Getting difference in .bin and .hex files between different IAR IDE Versions.

Hi Team,

We are getting difference between .bin and .hex files when we compile between two systems, but the code base(SDK, XDC using same versions) and IAR Settings also same across the team, the only difference is IAR IDE Version i am using the 8.32.2 version, the other one is 8.32.3.

If Tool Chain(Compiler, assembler and linker) version is same and IAR settings also same including Optimization levels, why we are getting difference in out put files.

Could anyone help me out on this issue. what are the things we need to take care if we are using the different IAR versions to get the same output generation.

Hi Srinivas,

The IAR IDE version is tied to the IAR compiler version, and hence you cannot expect to get the same output on two different versions of the compiler.

Thanks for your reply.

The IAR IDE version is tied to IAR compiler version.But we are using the Floating licence with server, so my team is using the same compiler licence.But still we are getting the different output.

IAR version 8.32.2 and IAR version 8.32.3 have two different compiler versions, and hence you cannot assume they will provide the same binary output. Compiler license is not the same thing as a compiler version.

Use the same IAR version (version does not mean license) on all machines if reproducible output is important.
