LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: RTLS UI does not recognize the previous CC26X2R1 LaunchPads

Hi, I bought several CC26X2R1 LaunchPad boards to test RTLS feature in SDK v3.40, but just noticed the example does not work, at least in the new RTLS UI - it does not recognize the board regardless of whether it is in master or passive role.

As shown in the above image, the only difference I can find out is the number 1913, 1921, but I don't know what they stand for and couldn't find what they mean either.

As you can see, The board with 1921 works as expected, but not with 1913 board.

I've tested those with 4 boards, so it is highly likely that there are some issues with the previous boards.

Please let me know what I can do to test RTLS features with previous ones - I need to use them to test and develop further based on multi-connection feature of current SDK.

(FYI, I'm under MacOS environment.)

    Hi,

    Can you do the following for me please?

    - verify if the two boards are detected by Flash Programmer (you might need to update the XDS' firmware image)

    - verify if you can erase and program both devices

    - verify the device's revision (see here). I want to be sure you are not using a rev C device :)

    - take a picture of the other side of the two boards

    To finish, can you precise the following:

    - which SDK version are you using?

    - are you using the same SDK on all the devices? (you cannot use different SDK versions at the same time)

    - what is he role (master/passive/slave) of the undetected device? (please note that slave devices are not supposed to be detected by the RTLS UI)

    Hi Clement, I did several tests, and as a conclusion first, I found the issue is related with the CCS version, not with the board revision.

    If I update the emulator firmware using CCS 9.3 (the latest one), RTLS_UI cannot recognize the board, but if I update the emulator firmware using CCS 9.2 (the previous one), it works with any LaunchPad.

    So I used xdsdfu utility which is included in CCS installation to be more precise, and the results was the same.

    Here is the screenshot for your reference. The left one is working, but it fails with the right one.

    Below are the answers for your requests.

    1. Verified that two boards are detected by Flash Programmer, but one was needed to update XDS firmware image.

    2. Verified erasing and programming both devices.

    3. Both device revisions are E.

    4. SDK version is 3.40 (Current latest one)

    5. I'm using the same SDK on all the devices.

    6. Master or Passive roles.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the tests you have done!

    So, a temporary work around is to use CCS 9.2.

    For your information, I have run a similar test and I could not see the same issue. I attached two launchpads and used a different version for the XDS firmware.
