Good morning,

i have been searching for an answer the last couple of days but couldn't find it. In the datasheet it is said that the radio timer has a frequency of 4 MHz. In the SLA and BLE User Guide it is explained that for AoA one has 4 MHz but for ToF 8 MHz? Could you maybe shed some light on this?

Hi Daniel,

You are referring to two different timers. One is a timer running at 4MHz. The other is a radio core internal timer that is running at 8MHz.

I let you review the RTLS Toolbox documentation (especially here for more details).

Hi Clément,

thank you for your response. Ok, so the timer running at 4 MHz is an internal timer from the CC2652R (found in the datasheet under 6.7, http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cc2652r.pdf).

Since the radio core has a dedicated Arm Cortex M0 i can't quite understand why just a 8MHz Timer is used, when there are General Purpose Timers running at 48 MHz. Furthermore there is no specification about the used timer (8MHz) in the datasheet. It is difficult to argument with this to my colleagues. Is there maybe further documentation? And is there no way of changing it?

Hi Daniel,

The timer we are discussing here is a part of the radio core that is not exposed to our customers. This is the result of TI internal choices that I cannot comment on a public forum. You won't be able to change the frequency of the timer by yourself. This will require you to get a patch for the radio.
