CC2650: OAD android not working for cc2650

Part Number: CC2650
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652R, CC2640R2F

Hello

Regarding below issue (OAD android not working for cc2650), please update us recent status.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth/f/538/t/833556?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=oad%20cc2650%20android

I was informed that TI has been filed and doing investigation on this issue five months ago.

If possible, please remind us the status, as this is very critical feature for us.

Best regards,

>Sejin

  • Hi Sejin,

While the issue have been filed, the CC2650 is not part of the Simplelink family and priority is set accordingly. It is not possible to give or comment on any internal timelines that might be regarding this particular issue.

I would advice that, if possible, you would look into the Simplelink device family for future development  (such as the CC2640R2F or CC2652R) as these are under more active support. In regards to BLE, it also means that these devices have more recent stack versions that also include critical security fixes.

  • Hello

Thank you for the kind assistance.

It will be great, if TI can provide transparency for these kinds of important issue.

If android example source code is not available for certain issue, how about PC side software?

I think popular chip-set like cc2650 needs to provide freedom for firmware update feature.

    Best regards,

    >Sejin

  • Hi Sejin,

I'm sorry you feel that we were not being transparent enough here but the fact is, as J-Lidth said in the previous post, the CC2650 platform is not high on the priority list and thus it is hard to provide any status on it.

As for the support of "custom FW" in the mobile app, there should be support for custom FW images on android now as far as I'm aware.
