CC2652R: Using CC2652R - LaunchPad as Bluetooth sniffer

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540EMK-USB, CC-DEBUGGER

Hi,

I am currently looking fo a tool to review my data packages I am sending from a CC2652R-LaunchPad via Bluetooth.

I read a lot about different sniffers and tools and all have some restrictions regarding comptibility with the lauchpad, software and OS. I an using Windows 10.

Do I understand it correctly, that there are two possibilities:

1. Buy the sniffer CC2540EMK-USB ($49.00(USD)) and use it with the SmartRF Packet Sniffer software, but I also need a CC-Debugger ($49.00(USD)).

2. I could use a second CC2652R-Lauchpad board (HW Rev. B, FW SDK 2.40, 1911 ) and flash the sniffer Firmware onto it. What Software do I need to flash the sniffer firmware onto that board? Do I need any additional hardware? Can I store the firmware which is now on the board to reset the board later to its original state or where do I get it? Is that board compatible with SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2 or previous versions? I read a lot of post where people had problems with the programm not showing all received or sent packages.

Do I need to think of anything else?

I already have two launchPads so that the second option would be quiet nice for me, if I don't need any other hardware.

Thanks a lot
