LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: Antenna switching

Hello,

We have two antennas in our design which we want to switch depending on the which ble connection has its next connection event or if the device is advertising. Is this possible with the current SDK?

More precisely: When the chip wakes up for an rf event, we want to make sure the correct antenna is powered up and switch between the antennas if there has been packet loss with the respective connection (more than one connection is possible) when the last connection event happend.

We are using the simplePeripheral project as a base.

I guess you have a switch that is used to select between the two antennas, and from your application you can configure the GPIOs you need to control the switch.

Hello Siri,

the problem is, we can not control the gpios according to our needs because the stack you provide does not give the functinality or we are not able to find it. For instance, if the processor goes into sleep to wait for the next connction event, how can I know which connection(connection handle) is going to have its next connection event? We need to setup the antennas accordingly.

Accordingly, if the processor wakes up from sleep how do I now it woke up for a connection event/advertising event or ble-unrelated event?

Hello Hermann,

There is no built in support for antenna diversity in the BLE stack.

But you can take a look at the GAP Callback function for Connection Event notifications.

The callback function will be called after every connection event if enabled and will include Gap_ConnEventRpt_t *pReport that has certain info that might be useful to you like connection handle, nextTaskTime, nextTaskType, etc:

Perhaps it is possible to add some tracking implementation in your app depending on the effective connection interval to figure out which connection is next up?
