BLE APIs in Android

i'm currently communicating with classic BT devices from my android phone, using the "stream-based" connections supported through the android-bluetooth APIs (which presumably rely upon SPP beneath)....

now, from what i understand, BLE will be GATT-based -- and there will be no SPP....  so, does anyone know what the APIs will look like from the perspective of the android developer???  presumably, something new will need to be added???

any insights would be greatly appreciated....

  • Good question but we don't have application profiles from Bluetooth SIG out yet. To write custom profile/application BLE is not entirely implemented in BlueZ and it might take even longer time to be integrated with Android.
