Since posting I have used the uart echo example, but I have had some issues with the example. I was going to make another post about it, but since you referenced it directly I figured I would bring it up here. When I run the uart echo example it displays "Echoing characters:" twice. The first instance is viewed on the COM port even before the main thread is created in main. I honestly have no idea why this occurs.

I did the same manipulation like you and I am wondering if you are not seeing a previous execution of the code.

My theory is something like the code is executed once between the time you download the code and the time you connect the debugger. Then you reset the device and execute the code a second time.

I think you can safely use the UART example code.

Is there anyway to run the example such that this behavior isn't shown. I agree that the example works, but if I re purpose this code how do I know that this won't happen. Is there a way to flush a buffer which keeps the string from the previous run so that I can make sure that I am displaying what I want to?
