CCS/CC2640R2F: installing and using CC26xx in a previous CCS processor environment

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi everybody ,

I m long term user of  Sitara and TIrtos  using   CCS .

now I would like to run some test on CC264 and BLE :   my concern is  to be sure and avoid any issue on my actual  working SITARA enviroment .

so questions:

- is there any suggestion to be sure no issue coming ?

- any way I can backup properly my Sitara settings/folders/enviroment so to be able to go back if needed ?

- I would like to keep if possible  new radio SDK in default path  c:\ti   any issue in this ?

thank you

best regards

Carlo

  • Hi Colombo,

Just create a new workspace for your CC264x CCS projects. Would also be good idea to use the latest CCS version. More CCS related problem, post it at CCS forum.

  • Markel,

Thank you for letting me know about this thread.

    Carlo,

    1) You can install multiple versions of CCS in your environment and they will have minimal influence on each other*. The only things you need to do are:

    - Install each version in a different directory - I usually install them as below:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17763.1217]
    (c) 2018 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\>dir c:\CC*
Volume in drive C is Windows
    Volume Serial Number is 42C6-BAEA

    Directory of c:\

    03/06/2020 08:57 <DIR> CCSv10_0_0
    04/05/2020 11:31 <DIR> CCSv10_0_0_old
    10/06/2020 08:42 <DIR> CCSv10_1_0
    27/04/2018 10:40 <DIR> CCSv6_2_0
    14/10/2019 10:19 <DIR> CCSv7_4_0
    17/04/2019 12:36 <DIR> CCSv8_3_0

    C:\>

    - Use a different workspace for each

    2) By doing the above, you won't need to backup the settings

    3) If installed from the TI Resource Explorer, the SDK is installed by default under C:\ti

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

    * The aspects that will be shared across installs are the temporary files for Trace, the common target configurations (.ccxml) and the SDKs and RTSC products installed under C:\ti
