CCS/CC2652R: ToF + AoA

Part Number: CC2652R

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Ubuntu 18.04

simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_3_40_00_02

Firstly We just want to run ToF, After We will run AoA + ToF, We already runned AoA.

We flashed rtls_master and rtls_slave (default code), after we tried to run rtls_example_with_rtls_util.py. We got error like "All nodes to start TOF" inside rtlsUtil.tof_start().

1-) Do We need 3 devices (RTLS Master/Passive/Slave) for running ToF? Does 2 devices (RTLS Master/Slave) is not enough for ToF? If that is possible, Which steps Should we follow?

2-) Does ToF only supported with one connection?

3-) If ToF support with multi connection, Is it possible AoA + ToF with multi connection?

Best Regards

  • Hello,

I have assigned an expert to comment.

  • Hi,

As a supplier of Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) solutions we are committed to making available high quality software stacks with a focus on interoperability and broad market adoption.

In previous Software Development Kits (SDKs), TI introduced, on an experimental basis, a new innovative ranging technology called Time-of-Flight (ToF) together with our BLE Software Stack as a software example to demonstrate one possible option for new ranging technologies. This ToF example technology was based on a proprietary extension demonstrating operation between compatible TI devices only.

In this increasingly connected world, interoperability between different suppliers and systems is a critical value and TI listens to this market and customer requirement. Moving forward, TI has decided to merge our secure ranging efforts onto a standardized solution with focus on broad adaption and interoperability.

As part of this decision to focus on standardized solutions, TI has made the decision to discontinue further development and support of the TI-proprietary ToF software examples in the SDK.

At the same time, we are placing an emphasis on creating a standard for secured ranging technologies and intend to convert the existing technology when these solutions become available.

    Best regards,

Yes, you can use only two devices. Please follow the SImpleLink Academy trainings for the SDK version you are using.

2-) Does ToF only supported with one connection?

    ToF supports only one connection
