CC2640R2F: Bricked XDS110 Debug Probe

I am currently debugging a system with one device running the 2640R2F part, and another device running the 2642R1F. I am switching the XDS110 probe between the two devices to debug, depending on which device I am making code changes to. When I launch the debugger after switching, I get a message saying the probe requires a firmware download. The 2642R1F project is based on Code Composer Studio version 10 and the 2640R2F is based on Code Composer Studio version 8.3. On 3 occasions, the firmware download fails and the XDS110 is rendered useless. I cannot connect to it, I have tried the xdsdfu utility and it cannot connect nor execute any commands. I am on my 4th probe. This is getting frustrating to use the tools necessary to develop and debug an application on the TI BLE parts. Any help or suggestions how to avoid this issue would be appreciated.

Hi,

Bootloader on the XDS110 might have corrupted. You need to reprogram the Bootloader program.

Are you using XDS110 probe or using one of the Launchpad as XDS110 probe?

The xdsfu utility should be capable of programming both the bootloader and firmware: https://www.ti.com/lit/sprui94

Given the difficulties described, my immediate recommendation would be to use one XDS110 for CCS 10 and another for CCS 8.3 to avoid multiple firmware updates.

I was able to recover 2 units. 2 appear to have more serious problems, the xdsdfu utility does not see the devices, and neither the red nor green LED lights up when plugged into USB. Thanks for the help!
