CC2564MODN: LTA-5320-2G4S3-A placement

Hi Team,

Good day,

We received an inquiry from customer and want to confirm something about the device antenna.

Can they place the LTA-5320-2G4S3-A on a small, separate PCB with coaxial cable from the motherboard to the PCB with the antenna?

What are the disadvantages and advantages of doing this?

Thank you and looking forward for your kind response.

Regards,

Maynard

  • Hi Maynard,

There are a few things to consider here:

    1) You need to ensure that you meet the placement (grounding) requirements for the antenna. If it is simply placed on a separate PCB and the integration/design rules of the antenna are not followed you will have degraded performance.

    2) You will need to check with your test house if this will be acceptable from a regulatory point of view. You are using the same antenna, but there is a coex cable in between and thus this may require some additional testing. This I cannot answer for you and its best to consult with a test lab. IF the test lab says that this is acceptable and you need to do a C2PC, we can help with that. Basically the process we follow is that we do a Multiple listing/Change in ID, where we transfer or modular certification to a customer FCC ID, then you can perform the additional testing needed.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks
