Hi all,

i test CC2642R Development Kit transmission distance.

result:

	DevKit 0db	DevKit 5db
iphone8 13.2.2	160m	175m
Samsung C7000 7.0	170m	190m

test step:

1.Fixed development board, 2m above the ground

2.It can be successfully connected far away from the development board, which is considered as an effective distance

My test results show that 0DB and 5db are only 20 meters apart. I think this is abnormal.

1.What is the normal distance according to my test?

2.How should I modify to get close to this result?

Hi,

You can use the RF-RANGE-ESTIMATOR to estimate the distance reachable in your case.

An important element that you my have forget to take in consideration is the Tx Power of the phone.

Hi,

The RF-RANGE-ESTIMATOR has a tab that explains the terms shown there. Also, the document below covers the aspects of the range estimation.

To set only the output power on the spreadsheet, change the Tx conducted output power parameter - also, don't forget to change the device and datarate for Bluetooth. However, many other aspects need to be considered such as obstacles the antenna used, overall environment noise, etc.
