CCS/CC2650STK: How to adjust LED brightness using BLE?

Part Number: CC2650STK

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi there

I managed to use the IO service (processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC2650_SensorTag_User's_Guide switch on/off the two LEDs using remote mode. My gateway is in JavaScript. However, may I check how I can adjust the LED brightness in that case? It seems that standard BLE service does not include that. Maybe I can modify the code on the CC2650STK to receive some new instructions (like bit 4 or 5 for high brigtness or low brightness), but how can I do that? Thank you.

  • Hi,

I personally don't have code available to accomplish what you want, but I have a few comments about your development.

To control the brightness via Bluetooth, I would first create a new custom characteristic with its own UUID, replicating the existing LED control characteristic but with a new custom routine to message the GPIO pin that controls the brightness.

The LED on the Sensortag is connected to a simple GPIO pin, thus you will also have to consider perhaps adding a bit of software to modulate its output and thus control the LED brightness.

If I have any additional ideas I will report back to this thread.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
