CC2652R: Error when trying to flash BLE simple Link app

Hi,

We are trying to flash the simple link application which we compiled. We are making use of Uniflash Tool for flashing the app and getting the error as below:

Error connecting to the target: (Error -2131 @ 0x0) Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 9.2.0.00002)

Also could you confirm if Uniflash is the right tool to flash? If not, then please suggest us the right tool for flashing.

Srinivasan,

Many possible root causes can trigger this error. Please check the Debugging JTAG page below (search for the error number) at:

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

As per our observation, we are facing the issue later in the debug session. The shared link mentions about this issue as highlighted below:

if the error happens later in the debug session the reasons are different (perhaps the reliability of the JTAG connection due to noise, or improper firmware that causes the device to power cycle or reset, etc.).

How to check and confirm if the firmware is proper or not? How to check if the JTAG connection is reliable? I there any test sequence for that?

Please advise.

Please apologize; your reply went under my radar. Are you still experiencing this issue?

Since you mentioned the error happens during a debug session and not at its initialization, the most plausible explanations would be problems on cables (USB, JTAG) or a problem on the code itself, which may be inadvertently resetting the device and causing the disconnect on the JTAG.

Apart from this, unfortunately I don't have much else to suggest - these issues that happen at random times are very difficult to track.

Hello Rafael,

We have been able to flash CC2640 EVM using Uniflash tool using a different host machine using the same set of cables.

We are still wondering if we need to install any additional drivers on the host machine where we are facing the issue for flashing. Please let us know if there are any additional drivers that are to be installed. We are making use of Ubuntu 18.04 environment in VM. We are fine with Windows environment as well.
