CC2540EMK-USB: Can't flash CC2540-USB using CC Debugger

Hi Mahmoud,

Are you referring to the CC2540 USB Evaluation Kit Quick Start Guide?  Have you also looked through the FLASH-PROGRAMMER User's Manual?  Ensure that the CC-DEBUGGER light is green after being connected to the CC2540EMK-USB.  Here is a relevant E2E thread.

Hi Ryan,

the led in my CC-Debugger doesn't turn green, it is always red (when i connect the USB dongle to the debugger and press reset button on the CC-Debugger), but when i use the debugger with the keyfob the LED turns green and i am able to flash it

NOTE

the USB dongle is working with Packet Sniffer tool

Hi Mahmoud,

The USB dongle most likely works with PACKET-SNIFFER because that firmware is already pre-programmed on the device.  Try reversing the connection to the CC2540EMK-USB (i.e. 180 degrees) and make sure it is properly provided power as the CC-DEBUGGER LED must be green in order to flash the device.

Hi Ryan,

The USB dongle works fine with packet sniffer indeed. I tried reversing the connection (between CC-Debugger and USB dongle) but it still didn't detect it (LED is red).

The CC-Debugger detects the keyfob however.

Hi Mahmoud,

Is this a brand new  CC2540EMK-USB  device?  There could be a defect in its connection header or debug circuitry, it would be beneficial if you could find a second device to test.

Is the USB dongle powered when you connect it to the CCDebugger? If not, that would most likely be your problem.
