CC2564C: Minimizing Power Consumption

Part Number: CC2564C

Customer saw higher than expected current draw ~34mA. The did investigate and see ~33mA are going through pins B5 “MLDO_IN” and B6 “CL1.5_LDO_IN”.

Any clue what they need to do eliminate the additional current. Is there a command to turn off these internal LDOs while we go in scanning mode?  In looking at the datasheet they want to get to close as possible to the 324uA Scanning low power consumption as possible.

  • Is this happening on one board or multiple?  There is not a command to turn off internal LDO in this manner.  This could be HW, are they able to duplicate on EVM?

    Thanks,

  • Customer asking if there is an HCI command I can use to put the device into its deep sleep state. Currently, they have found 0xFD0C (HCI_VS_Sleep_Mode_Configurations); which allows them to configure deep sleep, but doesn’t put the chip into a sleep state (current draw is >7.5mA; not < 100uA). For testing, they just enabled deep sleep and left the parameters as “Do not change”: 0xFD0C 0X00 0x01 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0x0000

While in deep sleep, will they lose configurations sent to the module? (I.e. scanning settings) Will they lose the BLE patch that we apply to the chip during power up/initialization?

    For reference on patch:

    PatchVersion: 12_26_9-16

    SystemStatus: 12.26 (7.1)

They have implemented the 11.25ms window; 1.28s interval for testing and found that the current into pins B5/B6 sits at 4.22mA while not actively scanning. This is too high for our application, hence the need to search for alternatives.  Power consumptions scope trace

    Suggestion?

  • Hi Lawrence,

    Please see here - https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth/f/538/t/584080?CC2564-Low-Power-modes-for-the-CC2564

The initScript the customer uses should be setting it into the lowest power mode. What init script is the customer using?
