CC2642R: Is it possible to disable the UART interface for simple peripheral?

Part Number: CC2642R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi,

How to disable the UART interface in the BLE examples like simple_peripheral in simplelink SDK? Is there a predefined symbol for this? I'm using the latest simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_4_30_00_54.

And I found the description of the APP build configuration in the readme file of simple_peripheral example saying that "The application uses the config file ble_release.cfg and the defines are in <app name>_FlashROM_Release.opt", however I can't find the ble_release.cfg or <app name>_FlashROM_Release.opt file in the project folder. What is the path of these files?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Shuyang

  • I believe the file paths for ble_release.cfg and cc26x2r1lp_app_FlashROM_Release.opt are simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_4_30_00_54\examples\rtos\CC26X2R1_LAUNCHXL\ble5stack\simple_peripheral\Tools and simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_4_30_00_54\examples\rtos\CC26X2R1_LAUNCHXL\ble5stack\host_test\tirtos\ccs\defines, respectively.  cc26x2r1lp_app_FlashROM_Release.opt is where NPI_USE_UART is defined.

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the tips. I am able to find ble_release.cfg in simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_4_30_00_54\examples\rtos\CC26X2R1_LAUNCHXL\ble5stack\simple_peripheral\Tools by your instruction, but after importing this project into CCS, I found that this file was not imported, only ble_Release.xscfg was under the Tools folder of the project. I'm a little confused about these 2 files (ble_release.cfg and ble_Release.xscfg), can you please explain what the .xscfg is for?

For <app name>_FlashROM_Release.opt, I'm not using the host test project, by <app name> in the readme I think it means simple_peripheral_FlashROM_Release.opt or something like that, but I can't find such file in the project folder, there is only a config_def.opt under \Tools\Defines, is it what the readme refers? If not does the simple_peripheral example provides similar option as the host_test?

I opened the config_def.opt file and there are only 3 configs in that file:

    --config_def CC2642=1
    --config_def PAGE_ALIGN=-1
    --config_def FLASH_ROM_BUILD=2

So does the simple_peripheral provide a predefined symbol to enable/disable the CUI? Thanks.

  • You can add Display_DISABLE_ALL to predefined symbols to disable UART console.

  • Hi Yikai,

    Thanks, this works.

And I have found in the migration guide from BLE5-Stack 2.00.04 to BLE5-Stack 2.01.00 that project_name_app.opt has been replaced by ti_ble_app_config.opt because of the Sysconfig, and the display can be disabled from BLE->Advanced Settings->Disable The Display Module in simple_peripheral.syscfg. It has the same result as the predefined symbol by adding Display_DISABLE_ALL in the ti_ble_app_config.opt script.

I guess the readme has an out of date statement for this which leads to the confusion, hope this gets updated in the coming versions.

  • Actually, the display can be disabled from BLE->Advanced Settings->Disable The Display Module in simple_peripheral.syscfg too.
