CC2652R: Backwards compatible BAW design, ideal capacitor values for 1.8V external regulator?

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62740, ,

I've used a similar configuration for the CC2652RB based mainly on the "Using the Wireless SimpleLink CC26xx in External Regulator Mode With the TPS62740" app note as well as the "CC2650EM-4XS-Ext_Reg_2_0_0" reference design. I need to run a new board but I'm being forced to use the CC2652R and TPS62231 due to the chip shortage. I just want to ensure the inductor recommendation on the regulator and DCOUPL capacitance is suited for upgrading to the CC2652RB when it becomes available again?

  • Hi Matt,

Unfortunately, we don't recommend interchanging the capacitor values. So I'd recommend using the 1 uF capacitor with the R1 chip and the 10 uF capacitor with the RB chip.

As for the inductor - I'm not an expert on the TPS family of parts, but it looks like the 2.2 uH L1 inductor should be work regardless of the part you pick. You may optimize performance by using the inductors that the parts are rated for (found in the datasheet for both TPS parts).

    Go Blue!
