CC2640R2F: CCS 10.3 with SimpleLink CC2640R2 v4.4 on Big Sur

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Hi,

I'm not sure if this should have been posted in the Tools forum or here.  Apologies if this is the wrong place.

I have a customer developing on Mac OS 10.15 (Big Sur). CCS version is 10.3.1, CC2640R2 SDK version is 4.40.  For compatibility with SDK 4.40, customer has installed XDC Tools 3.51.00.28 and TI ARM compiler 18.12.6 LTS.  Customer is experiencing Big Sur security related issues with some of the XDC Tools libraries (libraries are not signed).

Is this a known issue? Is there a recommended workaround?

Kind regards,

Andrew Coad

  • Andrew,

How is your customer installing the new SDK? If directly from the TI Resource Explorer, it should pull all the dependencies automatically. I just did this and I did not run into any problems - the dependencies were installed normally and a subsequent build of a simple_peripheral project did not have any failures.

The install screen from inside the TI Resource Explorer should show something similar to this:

In the case above the SDK 5.10 is selected, but by clicking on the three stripes top right menu you can browse to a specific version (4.40 in this case) and click on the down arrow button to install. Also, to show it on the TI Resource Explorer screen, make sure the checkbox at the left is selected)

If that controlled install procedure does not work, I would then proceed to ask the customer to provide the full build console or any error messages to try and keep track on what may be going on.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hi Rafael,

Thank you for your response.  The customer is installing as you have shown.  Customer is using CCS 10.3 for compatibility with Big Sur.

The problem is Big Sur is throwing a security error with XDC tools 3.51.03.28.

    Kind regards,

    AC

  • Rafael,

Did you do your build on Big Sur?

    Regards,

    AC

  • Andrew,

I will have to upgrade to Big Sur and see if I can reproduce the problem - I didn't see any major security lockdown between Catalina and Big Sur, but it will be worth trying. I just need to see if I get access to my other machine, as the one I am currently using is too critical for such big update. I will keep you posted.

    Regards,

    Rafael

  • Andrew,

I was trying this out on my BigSur air and I am not seeing the warning.  When does the customer see it?  Is it during the build?  Can you get a capture of the warning.

I installed the 4.40 SDK and 3.51 XDCTools via Resource Explorer.  CCS prompted me to restart after discovering the XDCTools but other than that I was able to import and build examples fine.

Note that XDCTools 3.51 would have been released prior to BigSur.

    Regards,

    John

  • Thank you for your response.

Let me ask the customer for more precise info on when the error is seen.

    Kind regards,

    AC

  • I'm going to close this down. I have not had a response from my customer despite repeated requests.
