CC8530: cc85xx pairing without buttons

Part Number: CC8530

We use CC85xx about 8 years of our company's devices as wireless headphones. Now we have a new project that we have finalized, everything is OK, but we have a small problem that we cannot solve.
The transmitter (Master) is placed in a device without buttons, there is only one power supply SW that we can turn off device (device with Master is an accessory and can be changed with another). Receiver (Slave) also has no buttons, only power supply can be turned on/off. We can pair during production master and slave but if a customers buys accessory with another Master it cannot be paired.
Is there a way to pair Master and Slave without using buttons, just by turning ON power to both devices ?

  • Vladimir,

I do not believe there is a way to achieve this. PPW devices support proximity based pairing but this is triggered by a button press. The only pairing mechanism that doesn't require a button press on the slave device is fixed network ID pairing.

It might be possible to "simulate" a button press when the device powers on to trigger proximity based pairing on the slave device, but a solution like this hasn't been tested.

    Regards,
