CC1352R: External LF Clock Source

Part Number: CC1352R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi!

My environment:

Custom Board CC1352R1
SDK: 5.20.0.52
SYSCONFIG: 1.8.2

Problem:

I have custom board based on CC1352R1. I want to set external LF Clock Source but I can't get it work.
I changed LF Clock Source in syscfg file and set external DIO as I have on my board, but all the time program stops in Board_init on PIN_close function.
I can see that problem is with PIN_remove function, it fails on condition because handle is NULL and returns PIN_NO_ACCESS.

I double checked signal from external oscillator and it's fine. I also tried to use different SDKs (5.20.0.52, 5.10.0.48 and 4.20.1.04) and different Sysconfigs (1.8.2, 1.8.0 and 1.6.0).

What can I do to make it works? Is it some kind of bug?

  • Could you share a screenshot showing your setup of the LF clock source including how you have set the pin?

I believe that I should be able to recreate this error on a Launchpad since the error is dependent on the pin setup and not the actual source. If you have a Launchpad available, could you see if you get the same error and if so, provide instructions on how to recreate the error on our side?

  • Hi TER.

Only one thing that I changed is Device Configuration (should I change something more?):

I tried to set this pin in GPIO section but it doesn't change anything, it is the same with and without this section.

I also tested on Launchpad as you suggested and with same result, stops at PIN_ctz(). To recreate this problem I just imported pinInterrupt_CC1352R1_LAUNCHXL_tirtos_gcc project and set External Clock as You can see on first image.

  • I did some more testing and maybe this will help you in some way. I figured out that when I disable Generate Initialization Functions in Board section of Sysconfig everything start working, but I'm not sure if is it okay to keep it disable?

  • Do you remove the call to Board_shutDownExtFlash(void)? This function uses IOID_10 which will be a conflict with the pin you have set as an external source.

  • Yes, that's exactly what disable Generate Initialization Functions did. It removed Board_shutDownExtFlash(void) from Board_init() and now everything works.

    Thank you for help.
