Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2431, CC2430
Hello,
We have made a custom board with the cc2431 and we are experincing some difficulties as we are not able to detect the chip in order to program it. Our program/debug interface is ccdebugger with firmware rev. 13 and the last flash programmer.
The same custom board, but using cc2430 is working great! The schematics used are the same as in the cc2430 dk.
We have captured with the oscilloscope the lines reset_n, clk and data in order to see what is happening when the cc2431 is powered on and we have seen that when the ccdebugger sends the command asking the chip ID after a reset, the cc2431 doesn't answer the ID, the data line is always 1 (FFFF).
The most surprising thing is that if we disconnect the ground line (GND pin) from the ccdebugger, after a power on and a reset, the cc2431 answers to the chip ID command . Its response is 8903 (hex 22C7), but after that, when we try to connect with SmartRF studio, the board is not accesible and doesn't work well (this last thing seems obvious as we don't have GND pin connected).
The same custom board with cc2430 give the following chip id: 8504 (hex 2138)
We have also seen a correct chip ID response using the evaluatuion board smartrf04 with the cc2431 board that comes with the kit, its chip ID response is 8901 (22C5), which is slightly different to the one read in our custom board without connecting GND pin. Is it posible that this cc2431 have a different chip revision? It is curious, but this one works...
Does anybody know if there is any issue reggarding to the cc2431, that explains this behaviour? How to solve it? In theory cc2430 and cc2431 are pin to pin compatible.
Thanks for your answers,
Victor
