CC1101 using Meander Antenna

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101

Hi..

I used the RF chip CC1101 and i try to used the Meander Antenna design, i used the CC1110 example that use the meander antenna.

My question is...is the same RF design CC1101 and CC1110...or someone have CC1101 with meander antenna design

Thanks...

  • Hi,

The CC1110 and CC1101 have the same RF structure so the meander antenna (DN024) can be used for both these chips.

    Regards,   Richard.

  • Thanks, Richard.

that's correct both these chips have the same structure....my question es if TI have a Eval Modulo to include CC1101 with meander antenna because how can i know if my dBm's are correctly using this antenna or only these antenna on PCB

    Regars Jose Luis

  • Overall the design are the same but will vary if you change the board thickness or the size of the ground plane.    The board thickness effects the radiator's impedance while the ground plane changes the antennas fields and frequency of resonance.     You can use SmartRF Studio and program your radio in TX mode with continous signal do not use modulated).   Place a whip antenna of the corrrect frequency connect a spectrum analyzer.   compare the output power of one antenna to the other at the same distance.   If you copy everything correctly you should get the same results.   You can also compare this to another whip antenna connected to a TI modular EM board.    The power reduces by 1/D  where D is the distance between each antenna.
