Hello,

Can you please clarify what your requirements are? Are you looking to use peer to peer communication like what is available with NFC? If so, we do have an upcoming IC that is pin for pin compatible with the TRF7960 that supports all NFC modes including peer to peer. This will be the TRF7970A.

I did a mistake, I meant if it would be possible to use the TRF7960 to log the communication between a TAG and a READER, like a debugging tool, or even for Man In the Middle attacks. It would be a nice project for my engineering course, but I was wondering if it will be possible. Maybe in direct Mode zero?

Yes, this could probably be accomplished in direct mode zero. There is also a tool called Proxmark III that is intended for eavesdropping HF and LF RFID communication.
