CC2662R-Q1: Balun from Johanson can be used?

Part Number: CC2662R-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, CC2640, CC2630, CC2620, CC2652R

We are selecting a balun/filter to use with the CC2662. We found the one below from Johanson Technologies:  2450BM14G0011

The datasheet for Johanson says the balun is "Conjugate match to TI CC2620, CC2630, CC2640, CC2642, CC2642R1F CC2650, CC2652R (RGZ) chipsets operated on INTERNAL BIAS MODE".

Questions
• Should it also work with the CC2662?
• Does our firmware need to do anything set “Internal Bias Mode”?

  • Jeff,

Question 1: Yes this balun should work for the CC2662 device.

Question 2: For the CC2662 device, VDDR_RF has to be supplied from one of the 2 internal biasing options which means it can only operate in "Internal Bias Mode". You can use the internal Global LDO or you can use the internal DC/DC converter. The internal DC/DC converter provides the lowest power consumption possible and is utilized in our reference designs of the CC26X2 devices. To enable the DC/DC converter the AON_PMCTL:PWRCTL.DCDC_ACTIVE bit does have to be set. Please read section 1.3.13.1.2 and section 1.3.13.2 of the technical reference manual SWCU185E to get further details of circuit implementation with either option.

Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks.
