1. We are planing a space & power constraint application,

folded dipole cannot be accommodated, whether a chip antenna "2119640001 "

with a miniature balun( may be LDM152G4510EC013) can be used instead of the L & C components

   which may occupy more space.

2. What provisions we have to make to program the

device, it is mentioned that programming is happening through debug

interface via the P2_1 and P2_2 pins.

thank you

  • Hi I. Mahalakshmi

    1. Typically, when space is limited a chip antenna is used at the cost of performance. The balun can also be used in place of an LC circuit but it is more expensive in comparison.

    2. Code Composer Studio is what we normally use to flash and program our devices. Are you looking for a manual on how this is done?

    Best regards,

    Bun

  • Hi Bun,

    thank you,

    1. I understand that a chip antenna and a balun can be used for space constraint application may be with reduced performance. So from the device a balun alone sufficient to connect to the chip antenna

    2. I understand that there are two pins for debug interface which is used to program the device. In a space constrained application how these two pins are interfaced to code composer studio for programming the device. Whether as per the following diagram(in swru236a.pdf), connection is required for programming the device or whether any miniature option is available, max of 7X5 mm only available for providing the programming option(in SMD only).

    3. Whether the link distance can be upto 800 meters or whether a PA may be needed

    thank you

  • Hi,

Just a balun by itself might not be sufficient to suppress the harmonics. You may need extra filtering after the balun.

I don't think CCS supports 8051 compiler. We typically use IAR Embedded Workbench.

Please see this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/swra124

For bootloader interface see this: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/swra371

For the debug header, I am afraid you have to find one that will fit your design needs.

To achieve 800m range, you will need a range extender.

Please use this range estimator worksheet determine the range of your system : https://www.ti.com/tool/RF-RANGE-ESTIMATOR
