Hello All,

We are using WL1271 on our hardware along with Phycore AM335x with Linux kernel version 3.2. As WL1271 wifi chips are not available, we are going to replace them with another chip.

Could you please suggest any Wifi and Bluetooth Module chip that is similar to WL1271 for which the driver is available with Kernel 3.2?

Hi Prathamesh,

Kernel 3.2 is very ancient, except for wl12xx we don't have any Wi-Fi transceiver that are compatible with that kernel version.

Is there any interest from your team to update? We have new Wi-Fi devices that support Wi-Fi 6 and BLE 5.3. However, these are not compatible with kernel 3.2. Check out the CC33xx lineup: https://www.ti.com/product/CC3301

If you're still using AM335x, TI has new processor SDKs that support kernel 5.10. This will help jump start your software design.

We also have WL1837MOD that has upstreamed drivers included in the linux source, but they only go back to kernel 4.4 I believe. Check out this product here: https://www.ti.com/product/WL1837MOD

In the end, I recommend you update your kernel version if you are able.
