SmartRF Studio 7 not able to open Device Control Panel for MSP430 eZ430-RF2500 development tool

Hi,

i'm working with MSP430 eZ430-RF2500 development tool and i want change some register but when i connect the usb device the smartRF studio 7 show me this message:

"Unknown RF Device: MSP430F2274"

However MSP-eZ430U appear in "List of connected device" box of smartRf studio interface and if i try to open it with Device Control Panel i receive another error message.

MSP430 eZ430-RF2500 development tool uses a CC2500 transceiver wich is supported by SmartRF Studio 7, however it doesn't work fine.

How can i solve this?

Hi Massimo,

Unfortunately SmartRF Studio 7 does not support eZ430-RF2500. The device does appear in the list of connected devices, but that's all. The device doesn't contain the necessary FW to communicate with SmartRF Studio and it has not yet been planned to develop this.

The reason why the device appear in the list of connected devices is because of the support for CC430. This device use a similar interface as for eZ430-RF2500 and when enumerating the connected USB devices it is not filtered out yet. I think this will be done in the future to avoid any confusion.

Is there any version of SmartRF Studio that does support eZ430-RF2500?

Has there been anymore progress towards eZ430-RF2500 support in version7?

Hi Jon,

I have to dissapoint you on this one. There is no version of SmartRF Studio that support this combination and for the moment it has not been planned to do so in the future.

SmartRF studio ver 6 does allow you to export a c header file for the register settings. So you can use the interface to create register settings and then export them to the smartrf_CC2500.h file that SimpliciTI uses. But it does not support connecting the device and testing the settings.

Dear Sir,

I have developed a system by using eZ430-rf2500. Smart RF studio and TI Packet sniffers are not working for this development kit. Please refer some other tools to analyse the parameters which support eZ430-rf2500...
